An interactive project using Google Trends API to create an experience from global searches around climate change for GEN Summit in Barcelona.
Every day, there are 3 billion+ searches on Google. We worked with the Google Trends team to take a closer look at the queries from around the world on specific topics within climate change. Using four Chromebook Pixels and a 58-inch multitouch Planar screen, we showcased queries, volume of searches by topic by major world cities over time as well as other smaller towns throughout the world where topics were prominent in their searches. In collaboration with Michael Chang (@mflux), we developed a Chrome Experiment to bring this project outside of the GEN Summit and allow the public to see how these searches reflect the way the world thinks about climate change.
